FairRate (fairrate.online) is operated by an individual based in Alberta, Canada. This Privacy Policy covers both our US and Canadian products and is written to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), as well as applicable US privacy standards including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

When you use FairRate, we collect:

• Rate inputs you enter (mortgage balance, quoted rate, term, province/state). This information is used solely to generate your report and is not retained after your session unless you complete a purchase.
• Payment information processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
• Uploaded document content — the loan estimate or commitment letter you upload for analysis.
• Basic usage data (pages visited, browser type) via standard web analytics.
• Email address if you contact us via support@fairrate.online.

We do not collect: Social Insurance Numbers (SIN), Social Security Numbers (SSN), income documentation, employment information, or credit reports. We never pull your credit.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate and deliver your rate verification report.
• To process your payment via Stripe.
• To respond to support inquiries.
• To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
• To improve the product.

We do not sell, share, or disclose your personal information to mortgage lenders, brokers, real estate agents, or any third party for marketing purposes.

3. Data Retention

Rate inputs entered during a session are not stored in our database unless you complete a purchase, in which case your transaction record (amount, product type, Stripe session ID) is retained for accounting purposes. Uploaded documents and extracted data are retained for up to 90 days, then permanently deleted. We do not retain specific rate inputs after report delivery.

4. Your Rights (Canadian Users)

Under PIPEDA and PIPA, you have the right to:

• Access personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Withdraw consent (where applicable).
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca).

8. Data Security and Cross-Border Transfer

We implement appropriate technical and organizational safeguards including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure database storage on Railway (hosted in the United States).

Note for Canadian users: Our database is hosted in the United States. By using FairRate, Canadian users consent to their information being transferred to and processed in the United States, subject to the protections described in this policy.

9. No Sale of Personal Data

FairRate does not sell personal data in identifiable form to any third party. Our only source of revenue is direct payment from users for the analysis service.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of FairRate after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
