Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

FairRate (fairrate.online) is operated from Alberta, Canada. This policy describes how FairRate handles information across its US and Canadian products. It is a factual description of current practices, not a representation that every privacy law applies to every user or product in the same way.

1. Information we collect

  • Mortgage and report inputs, such as quoted rate, remaining balance or loan amount, term, rate type, province or state, amortization, equity or down-payment context, and other details you choose to provide.
  • Checkout and report records. When you start a supported paid checkout, FairRate may create a recoverable transaction record before redirecting you to Stripe. That record can include the report inputs you supplied, product and price information, benchmark context, checkout status, and a report identifier.
  • Payment information processed by Stripe. FairRate does not store full card numbers.
  • Generated report data, which may include your inputs, comparison calculations, benchmark snapshot, generated report text, and payment or delivery status.
  • Uploaded or pasted document content if you choose to provide a mortgage document for analysis.
  • Email address and consent choices when you request reminders, alerts, report delivery, or support.
  • Usage and technical data, including page path, traffic-source information, campaign parameters, browser or device information made available by analytics and hosting systems, and security or error information.

Do not submit Social Insurance Numbers, Social Security Numbers, full bank-account numbers, passwords, or unrelated identity documents. FairRate does not perform a credit pull.

2. How we use information

  • To provide a free comparison, paid report, document analysis, or other requested product.
  • To create recoverable checkout and report records and confirm payment.
  • To deliver reports, transactional messages, requested alerts, and support responses.
  • To measure product usage and funnel performance, diagnose errors, protect the service, and prevent abuse.
  • To improve FairRate products and understand which acquisition sources lead to product use or purchases.

FairRate does not sell mortgage inquiries to banks, mortgage brokers, mortgage agents, lenders, real-estate agents, or referral networks.

3. Checkout records and retention

A recoverable transaction record may be created before payment is completed. This means exact report inputs can be stored when you start checkout even if you later abandon the Stripe checkout. Paid-report records can also retain exact report inputs, benchmark context, generated report content, Stripe session identifiers, and payment status so FairRate can verify payment, recover a report, handle support, and maintain transaction records.

FairRate does not promise that every category is automatically deleted after a fixed number of days unless a specific product notice says so. Retention can depend on product delivery, support, security, dispute handling, accounting, operational recovery, and legal obligations. You may contact support@fairrate.online to ask what personal information is held about you or to request deletion, subject to information FairRate must or reasonably needs to retain.

4. Analytics and attribution

FairRate uses PostHog for product analytics. Client analytics are configured without automatic pageview capture, automatic interaction capture, or session recording. FairRate's client analytics layer sends page paths rather than full page URLs, removes query strings from stored referrer URLs, removes selected payment/report identifiers, and buckets selected mortgage balances and payment-gap values instead of sending those exact values.

Campaign parameters such as UTM source, medium, campaign, content, and term may be stored to understand acquisition performance. Browser storage and cookies may be used by analytics and attribution systems. Hosting, browser, or third-party systems may still process technical information independently under their own policies.

5. Service providers

FairRate uses third-party providers to operate the service. Depending on the product and action, providers may include:

  • Stripe — payment processing and checkout.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Brevo — transactional email and configured email lists.
  • Vercel and Railway — application and service hosting.
  • Sentry — error monitoring.
  • Upstash — rate limiting where configured.
  • AI model providers — document or report analysis where a product explicitly uses such processing.

These providers may process data in countries outside your province, state, or country and operate under their own terms and privacy practices.

6. Your requests and choices

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent in some circumstances. Contact support@fairrate.online. FairRate may need to verify the request and may retain information where permitted or required for transactions, security, disputes, accounting, or legal obligations.

7. Security

FairRate uses measures such as HTTPS and access-controlled service infrastructure. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not submit information that is not needed for the product you are using.

8. Changes

FairRate may update this policy as products, providers, or practices change. The date at the top will be updated when this page is materially revised.
