Canada Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
FairRate Canada is part of FairRate and is operated from Alberta, Canada. This page summarizes practices specific to Canadian mortgage renewal checks and paid reports. The general FairRate privacy policy also applies.
Information we collect
- Mortgage and report inputs you provide, such as quoted rate, remaining balance, province or territory, term, rate type, amortization, equity context, and renewal timing.
- Email address and consent choices when you request reminders, alerts, delivery, or support.
- Recoverable checkout and report records. When you start a supported paid checkout, FairRate may create a transaction record before redirecting you to Stripe. That record can include exact report inputs, product and price information, benchmark context, checkout status, and a report identifier.
- Payment status and Stripe identifiers used to confirm payment and recover a report. FairRate does not store full card numbers.
- Generated report data, including comparison calculations, benchmark snapshots, report text, and delivery status.
- Uploaded or pasted mortgage document content if you choose to provide it for a product that supports document analysis.
- Usage, attribution, technical, security, and error data used to operate and improve the service.
How we use information
- To provide the free checker, paid report, or other product you requested.
- To create recoverable checkout records, confirm payment, generate reports, and handle support.
- To send requested reminders, benchmark alerts, transactional emails, or report links.
- To measure product and funnel performance, understand acquisition sources, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and improve FairRate.
FairRate does not sell your mortgage inquiry to banks, brokers, mortgage agents, lenders, real-estate agents, or referral networks.
Checkout records and retention
A recoverable transaction record can be created before payment is completed. Exact report inputs can therefore be stored when you start checkout even if you later abandon the Stripe checkout. Paid-report records can retain exact inputs, benchmark context, generated report content, Stripe session identifiers, and payment status for product delivery, recovery, support, accounting, security, and dispute handling.
FairRate does not promise a universal automatic deletion period for every category of data. You may contact support@fairrate.online to ask what personal information is held about you or request deletion, subject to information FairRate must or reasonably needs to retain.
Analytics and attribution
FairRate uses PostHog for product analytics. The client analytics layer is configured without automatic pageview capture, automatic interaction capture, or session recording. It sends page paths instead of full page URLs, strips query strings from stored referrer URLs, removes selected payment/report identifiers, and buckets selected mortgage balances and payment-gap values instead of sending those exact values.
Campaign parameters and traffic-source information may be stored to understand how users find and use FairRate. Browser storage and cookies may be used by analytics and attribution systems.
Service providers and cross-border processing
Depending on the feature, FairRate may use providers including Stripe, PostHog, Brevo, Vercel, Railway, Sentry, Upstash, and AI model providers for supported analysis features.
These providers may process data outside Alberta or Canada under their own terms and privacy practices.
Your requests
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent in some circumstances. Contact support@fairrate.online. FairRate may need to verify the request and may retain information where permitted or required for transactions, security, disputes, accounting, or legal obligations.
Sensitive information
Do not upload Social Insurance Numbers, full bank-account numbers, passwords, unrelated income documents, or unrelated identification documents. If a document contains information not needed for the report, cover or remove it before uploading.
